Can’t say I find myself in a library often these days, many believe I was put off after finding out my department at University was called “Department of Library Studies” until a couple of years before I attended. (It changed to the Department of Information Science, if you were wondering. Sneaky, huh.)
However, turns out that some of these book-wielding buildings actually look really cool inside. Granted, I nearly clicked away from the web site that presented me with this insight (another stumble…) after it’s title was “Hot Library Smut”. Thankfully the first paragraph reassured me and I scrolled down to see the impressive interiors of the BNF in Paris and the British Library, amongst others.

It’s no secret that I like looking at buildings. It’s also no secret that I like flying. Eero Saarinen’s main building of Terminal 5 at New York’s JFK airport is just about the perfect amalgamation of the two. I absolutely love it.

This photo, taken somewhere in Scotland (my guess would be Edinburgh judging by the buildings…) is equally hilarious and sinister. Check it out.

via kottke.org (again):
Hi-res photos from a Nuclear Bomb test by the French Army in 1968.
Not one to glorify the destruction of unsuspecting remote areas of the Earth to further the causes of MAD, these photos are just amazing to look at none the less.
(*note that the title of this post is not strictly correct French.)
