One thing I forgot to pass on that I was shown at work yesterday - 9 to 5 Paintings.

Create art while you work! If you find yourself spending more and more time answering email, and less and less time making art then why not do them both at the same time? Anyway, I came across an interesting site today while looking through the daily distraction that is kottke.org - if I had more commitment (and time) I reckon I’d enjoy National Novel Writing Month.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
